Our story
Three generations of carpenters, one family name over the door.
Alexander & Sons Decks is a family operation based in Cary, North Carolina. It starts with Sean Alexander's grandfather, Raymond — “PopPop” — a skilled carpenter who passed the craft down to Sean's father, Ed. In 2023, Sean took that inheritance of tools and know-how and turned it into a professional deck-building business, with Ed still lending a hand on the job.
The goal Sean sets out is a simple one: give you a beautiful deck that you and your family can enjoy for years. Homeowners describe him, review after review, as polite, knowledgeable and honest about exactly what a deck needs — no upselling, just straight answers. The work, they say, comes out immaculate and finishes on time and on budget.
Because it's a small family crew, the person who quotes your job is the person who builds it. Sean walks your backyard with you, talks through wood versus composite honestly, and stays your single point of contact from the first estimate to the last board. Alexander & Sons is a fully licensed and insured general contractor, and a Trex Pro certified installer for composite decking.
